This is the first thing we ever recorded with Kamyar.
It is the first track of the entire Grapefruit era.
Until just before the Tomato Rain sessions,
I wasn't aware that there was a second verse to this song.
Nancy Ravey, 7 years old at the time, taught it to me.
She also co-wrote "8 Animal Monday" with me, which was recorded during the same sessions and appears on 'Like Strawberry Sandpaper.'
lyrics
Oh give me a home where the buffalo roam
And the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day
How often at night when the heavens are bright
With the light of the glittering stars
Have I stood there amazed and asked as I gazed
If the glory exceeds that of ours
